Supporting Financial Stability for a Vulnerable Client
The Challenge
Gentleman lives alone and was facing significant uncertainty while waiting for his first Universal Credit payment. Living with multiple serious health conditions, including mental health challenges, diabetes, and chronic pain, he was struggling to manage both daily life and his finances.
He was unsure what support he would receive and concerned about covering his increasing rent of £860 per month.
Hope 4U carried out a full benefit check, identifying substantial additional support he was unaware of. This included potential eligibility for housing and disability elements within Universal Credit, as well as Council Tax Reduction.
Further support focused on reducing his outgoings. An energy tariff comparison identified a cheaper deal, while advice was given on additional financial support, including hardship funding and priority energy services.
By the end of the intervention, he had a clear understanding of his options and practical steps to improve his situation, providing reassurance during a particularly difficult time.
